ok, so, raking feels ridiculous on thirteen acres in the mountains. that said, what a gift! the leaves from the oaks and maples along one of the stone walls make perfect material for a layer of sheet mulching as we create raised beds. while raking, because the pasture has been worked before, we collected a ton of overwintered straw and grass. and underneath all that - so much moss and wild strawberry!
