i love garlic
despite the drought, successful garlic harvest this year!
we overwintered about 300 head of german white, music, and chesnok red hardneck garlic.
we encounted a few of those soapy aphid pests. I didn’t treat the garlic, but I snapped the center stalks, sacrificing a few scapes to save the bulbs. it worked! i did miss a few scapes when harvesting this year and one grew to about 4 feet tall!
grading wise, we got some of the largest seed and market garlic grown on land to date. I’ve even got a significant amount of b-grade for processing and potential fermentation.
still my favorite crop of all time.
