when we moved in, the floor of the chicken coop was buried in a foot of dusty manure, straw and dessicated corn husks. the panels were encrusted with filth and unstable.


despite all that, this is the most structurally sound part of the barn.

above, the center panel is stabilized with a 9ft 2×4. and the right panel used a 45 ° cut to get flush.





and here we have the roosts! American Chestnut hardwood from Titan’s grandfather’s farm outside of Pittsburgh and a refurbished ladder with wood braces and notched posts to maintain the character of the barn.
one part of the ladder has too many exposed nails to lay flat as roosts. i ain’t tryna deal with bumblefoot. so, it’ll serve as a perch and thruway to the oak tree.

can’t wait to see the chicks in their refurbished coop and scritching out back.
