we finally built the fire circle and had a good first burn– me, Titan, Pops, and the doggos. The chickens put themselves to bed in the apple tree. the swing was a free find on the side of the road and all the bricks were in the top of the barn.

Initial placement of the berm was less than ideal so we switched it to behind the swing later. But hopefully the natural water management will work.

We created a coal gutter of sorts to move hot coals to a smoker/ cook pit with a salvage grate. Eventually we’ll pipe it out to a larger drum smoker.

And this beautiful granite bench is courtesy of the land. This slab with a couple others was just lying around behind the barn. We are near many a granite quarry and that was an industry of this area in ages past. Not a dime spent to build this entire area.
