This is the area of the barn that we are shoring up to be the chicken coop for chick’s arriving on the 28th of March or thereabouts. the brooder is being built on our sun porch with the baby seedlings.

We hope to have this done by the beginning of May! Luckily, this section of the barn has a really solid roof and can be easily predator proofed. We’ll install some roosts and nesting boxes, and figure out winter insulation over the course of the summer. The little door out the back will let the flock free range in a back section of the yard up behind a stone wall and into the gardens when the time comes.
