the past three weeks have been all consuming with the arrival of baby chicks. we lost five Faverolles during transit and in the first 48 hours. we held a burial ceremony, and returned their bodies to the land. the Dominiques have been hearty, though we do have a very sweet runt.
above, is captain jack (no idea if a rooster or not yet). they are our unsexed mystery chick, pretty sure a polish, adopted and named by my father after his high school mascot.
this was Week 1 - the beginning of April.
